It's one of the most common stories we hear: "My doctor ran labs, everything came back normal, but I still don't feel like myself." Maybe it's constant fatigue, brain fog, poor sleep, bloating, stubborn weight or low mood.
If that sounds familiar, you're not imagining it. Normal labs and feeling well are not always the same thing.
Why "Normal" Doesn't Always Mean Well
Lab reference ranges are designed to catch disease. A result can sit inside that range and still be lower or higher than what's typical for you.
A basic panel may also leave out markers that help explain symptoms, such as a fuller thyroid picture, iron stores, vitamin D, B12, inflammation or insulin.
And one number on one day doesn't show patterns, trends or how different systems affect each other.
What Functional Medicine Looks At
Your symptoms and when they started.
Your health history, family history and medications.
Sleep, stress, nutrition, digestion and movement.
Labs reviewed in context, including any recent results you already have.
The goal is a different perspective on the same picture, not a promise of a single answer.
What a Visit Looks Like
Your initial functional medicine consultation at Push Med is 30 to 45 minutes. Our provider listens to your story, reviews your history and labs, and talks through what additional testing or next steps may make sense.
Wellness consultations are complimentary. If you bring outside labs from the last 30 days, the $100 review fee is waived when you move forward with a treatment plan.
When to Talk With a Clinician
If symptoms have lasted for weeks or months, are getting worse, or are affecting your work, sleep or relationships, it's worth a conversation. Sudden or severe symptoms, chest pain, or trouble breathing need urgent or emergency care first.
The Bottom Line
Feeling off with normal labs doesn't mean nothing is going on. Learn more on our functional medicine page, or start with a complimentary consultation.
